If you inquire about availability, a job quote, send a question or comment, ask for support or report a problem, your name, email address, message, etc. will be collected. This data is used solely in connection with answering queries received.

Analytics

Computer-Ron utilizes Matomo On-Premise open-source analytics/metrics software. This software is self-hosted and normally IP-addresses are not stored in full meaning no personally identifiable information is stored.

When you visit our website the following information is stored: the website from which you visited from, the parts of the site you visit, the date, time and duration of your visit, your anonymised IP address, information from the device (device type, model, brand, screen resolution, operating system version, and browser), and country and city used during your visit. See this link for more information. This usage data in Matomo Analytics is processed for statistical purposes, to improve the site and to recognize and prevent any misuse.

However due to current trends, we do collect and store complete IP addresses of visitors to our website for the specific purpose of detecting and mitigating malicious activities, such as brute force login attempts and SureTriggers CVE exploitation attempts. This is necessary to protect our website and its users from harm. We reserve the right to block IP addresses from countries where our services are not available or where we have reason to believe that malicious activity is originating.

NOTICE: This website is intended for users in the United States only. As such, we are not subject to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or other EU laws and regulations. By accessing our website, you acknowledge that you are not a resident of the European Union and that our website is not intended for users in your country.

Visits from all countries except the United States are deleted from the database and any information is used only for the purpose of mitigating Threat Actors.

Who is your data shared with

Server log data is accessible to and may be shared with website operators and administrators for security and maintenance purposes. Analytics data is accessible to Computer-Ron and his website clients and customers exclusively (each only to their respective site(s) data), and is not shared with anyone else.

We will not share or disclose IP addresses collected from our website with any third parties, except as necessary to prevent or mitigate malicious activities. We will also take reasonable steps to ensure that IP addresses are stored securely and in accordance with industry standards.

How long is your data retained

For users that register on this website (if enabled), the personal information provided in their user profile is stored. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change the username). Website administrators can also see and edit this information but will not make any user account changes without explicit authorization from the user except under emergency circumstances (any user change that somehow negatively impacts server or website stability and/or availability).

Server log and analytics data is retained until administrative value has been served, generally for as short a period as possible. Information created and stored to facilitate the creation of an issue may be retained until all administrative value has been served.

What rights you have over your data

You may request any personal data held about you, including your analytics data, be erased. This does not include data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes. If a registered account exists on the system it will be permenantly deleted.

Opt-Out of website tracking

If you are determined not to have your machine visits recorded, normally it would be possible to opt out of being tracked by this instance of Matomo Analytics by either blocking or disabling cookies and/or by disabling java. However, due to current threat actors mitigations this is not necessarily the case.

No image or other fingerprinting methods are utilized on this website while some important functions may be dependant upon java in order for proper intended website operation.

How your data is protected

Websites are secured with key-based credentials, and all traffic into and out is encrypted with TLS. Website software is continually monitored and updated with security updates and upgrades as needed, required, and otherwise warranted. All passwords are auto-generated and managed utilizing redundant password vault databases. Websites, lists and surveys are backed up weekly. Analytics and email are backed up daily.

What third parties is data received from

Location data is provided by a GeoIP 2 database and MaxMind‘s PHP API to accurately determine the location of website visitors.
